Faculty may place books or media (DVDs/VHS) on reserve in the library for student access. Items are generally checked out for 3 hours, but the established checkout period is at the faculty member's discretion. Reserve materials are scheduled to be removed at the end of the semester, but may be extended at the faculty member's request.

Copyright and Use of Course Materials
The UNT Dallas Library follows U.S. copyright law, 17 U.S.C. -107 (Fair Use), which allows limited use of copyrighted material for teaching, scholarship, and research under specific circumstances.
Faculty may request that articles or book chapters be placed on electronic reserve (e-reserve) for student access. Each request will be evaluated for fair use compliance. In general:
Only a single article from a journal issue or a single book chapter may be posted.
Materials must be tied to a specific course and will be removed at the end of the term.
Whenever possible, a persistent link to licensed library resources or openly available content should be used instead of uploading a PDF.
Open access resources may be linked directly, but uploading files is discouraged.
For content not available through the library’s collections, faculty should consider requesting the material through Interlibrary Loan.
Copyright Notice for Students
All students who receive materials through e-reserves or other library services should be informed of the following:

The library wants to support your class with appropriate materials. Titles not in the collection may be purchased, if funds are available. Please complete the New Materials Request Form or log into your personal library account to submit a Purchase Suggestion through your personal library account.
Faculty and staff may request articles, books and book chapters from other libraries through the library's interlibrary loan service. To make a request, you can access the patron portal HERE or click on the Request Book/Article - Interlibrary Loan (ILL) link on the library homepage.

Item Checkout
Faculty and staff may borrow most circulating books for 120 days and media items for one week. Items borrowed may be subject to recall. Any item recalled should be returned to the library within a seven day period.
Renewing Items
Borrowed items may be renewed either in person or through your personal library account. Users may not renew items if they have library fines, overdue items, or if the item is on hold for another user.
Returning Items
Checked out items may be returned to the library service desk located on the 3rd floor of the Student Center during library operating hours. Please contact the library through email or phone if you need assistance with returning items to the library.
Paying Fines
Please contact the library either by email or phone if you have a question about a fine on your library account.
TexShare library cards are available at no cost to UNT Dallas students, faculty and staff. TexShare cards allow checkout of material at a any participating Texas library, academic, public or corporate. Rules for checkout are governed by the issuing library.
